不学老无似，艰难却饱谙。

bù xué lǎo wú sì， jiān nán què bǎo ān。

ㄅㄨˋ ㄒㄩㄝˊ ㄌㄠˇ ㄨˊ ㄙˋ，ㄐㄧㄢㄋㄢˊ ㄑㄩㄝˋ ㄅㄠˇ ㄢ。

远从陶靖节，来访杜征南。

yuǎn cóng táo jìng jié， lái fǎng dù zhēng nán。

ㄩㄢˇ ㄘㄨㄥˊ ㄊㄠˊ ㄐㄧㄥˋ ㄐㄧㄝˊ，ㄌㄞˊ ㄈㄤˇ ㄉㄨˋ ㄓㄥㄋㄢˊ。

意到羹莼适，贫犹食荠甘。

白话文翻译

不效仿古人，我似乎不像他们，

却已饱尝了艰难困苦。

远从陶渊明的风范而来，

前来拜访杜预这样的人。

兴致到时，莼菜羹也觉适口，

即使贫穷，荠菜也吃得甘甜。

可惜没有茅屋可供我安卧，

依然绕着鹊枝徘徊再三。

Not learning from the old, I seem unlike them,

Yet I have fully tasted hardship and difficulty.

From afar, following the path of Tao Yuanming,

I come to visit the likes of Du Yu.

When the mood is right, water shield soup is satisfying,

Even in poverty, shepherd's purse tastes sweet.

It's a pity there's no hut for me to rest in,

Still, I linger thrice around the magpie's branch.
