No painted hues, I thank you for your art's display.
Sitting here, I gaze upon the hermit's humble room;
And fancy I can see the ancient masters' bloom.
Through the door, the moonlight always finds its way in;
Past spring, the lingering frost has yet to thaw and thin.
The nature of things abhors a glaring, snowy white;
It's best to hide a little in the worldly dust from sight.
