百姓流亡,我痛心于你们的所作所为。
请求从军报国,自愧不如朝中权贵;
王师本应无敌,却战败,令人惊怪。
听说在临洮的原野上,
天色阴郁,战死者的尸骨仍在悲鸣。
Time and again, the warhorses invade our land;
Each time, a dirge for the nation's dead is penned.
The many forts are not my charge to keep;
My heart aches for the people, lost in your reckless sweep.
I blush to seek a post, a mere consumer of meat;
The king's host, unmatched, why suffers defeat?
Word comes from Lintao's wilds, where battles were fought;
Under a gloomy sky, the bleached bones whisper, distraught.
