原野湿地都成了龙沙般的荒漠，
楼台殿阁仿佛白玉砌成的仙京。
不知是谁错吹了律管，
使得万物骤然间如此堪惊。

For three days the wind shook the sea,
At midnight snow blanketed the town.
Already I see autumn's desolation,
And feel the pressing years' stern frown.
The plains and marshes turn to dragon-sand wastes,
Towers and terraces gleam like jade capital's grounds.
Who knows what false pitch-pipe was blown,
That each thing startles with sudden, startling sounds?
