The chaste lady has long since passed away,
Yet her fair name is known unto this day.
By the misty waves of the river she stays,
Amidst ancient pines and cypresses, the shrine decays.
The twilight retains the last gleam of light,
The mournful wind stirs the distant woods in its flight.
The exiled immortal's words shall never die,
Reading them, my sleeves with tears are wet, I sigh.
