虽然苦于炎热而寻求歇息，
我却惭愧自己的心随凉热而轻易改变。
既然说这是名声不好的树木，
那又怎么会有美好的树荫呢？
面对烦闷湿热，我正再三叹息；
它那婆娑的枝叶却伸展有百寻之广。
匠人们都走过而不回头看它，
我难道肯依靠着它来吟诗吗？
清凉的回忆想起浮在如玉寒冰上的瓜，
清雅的思绪萦绕着碎金般声响的竹林。
连鸟儿都知道选择何处栖息，
人难道能像马牛一样没有自己的襟怀吗？

Though I seek relief from the scorching heat,
I'm ashamed my heart shifts with cold and heat.
Since it's named a tree of ill repute,
How could it offer a pleasant shade?
In the muggy air, I sigh thrice in despair;
Its sprawling branches stretch a hundred feet there.
Craftsmen pass by without a single care,
Would I lean on it and chant my verse there?
Cool memory recalls melons floating on jade-like ice,
Pure thoughts dwell on bamboo's golden, rustling sighs.
Even birds know where to make their choice,
How can men be like cattle, devoid of voice?
