在卯年（单阏）福泽多有盈余，
清平时代得到了这位伟岸之人。
德行崇高，有荀氏（淑/爽）的操守，
学问仰慕，如孟轲般醇厚精深。
长久以来，惭愧自己如沟中断木被遗弃，
却常能亲近您这席上珍品般的人物。
远行的船帆忽然向西驶去，
我怅然若失地遥望着宛溪的水滨。

In the year of the hare, blessings overflowed the land,
In peaceful times, a man of greatness took his stand.
His virtue lofty as Xun's, steadfast and pure,
His learning sought Mencius' depth, profound and sure.
Long shamed to be a discard in the ditch's plight,
I often felt the treasure on the mat, so bright.
Your sail now suddenly westward begins to go,
I gaze with sorrow by the Wanxi's banks, in woe.
