在苍茫的海上，疏朗的树林中，
槟榔的果实已经累累垂挂。
烟霭湿润了它们，如赤色虬龙的卵，
风儿摇动着它们，似翠羽装饰的旗。
飞翔的姿态可比金𬸚𬸦神鸟，
掩映的样子又像初生的竹笋。
零落的样子惹人嗤笑椰子，
匀圆的形状令人惊讶荔枝。
当作茶饮，能迅速锁住瘴气，
如同酒浆，却让人醉得缓慢。
与蒌叶搭配尤其相称，
和蚌壳灰调和也算随意。
初次咀嚼，脸色因红润而惭愧，
频繁食用，牙齿因劳累而发愁。
饮食习俗随当地风土而定，
内心深忧（自己）会化为岛夷之民。

On the pale sea, sparse woods stand in view,
Their clusters of fruit already hang heavy and true.
Mist-dampened, like crimson dragon eggs they appear,
Wind-shaken, like kingfisher-feather banners they veer.
Soaring, they rival the golden phoenix in flight,
Half-hidden, they mimic young bamboo shoots in light.
Loose and fallen, they mock the coconut's state,
Even and round, they startle the lychee's weight.
As tea, they swiftly lock the miasma's breath,
Like wine, they slowly bring a drunkenness, near death.
With betel leaves they match in perfect pair,
With shell-lime paste, a casual touch they share.
First tasted, the face blushes, flushed and deep,
Chewed often, the teeth worry, tired from the keep.
Eating and drinking follow the local way,
Yet deep worry transforms this island's folk astray.
