手持锡杖能化解猛虎相斗。
登坛传戒三十年，
为僧众举行布萨仪式。
旧日的遗物如今还剩下什么？
只有石像在风雨中暴露伫立。

Long have I heard of Master Xuan, the Vinaya master,
Whose ascetic discipline was most rigorous and pure.
From his brow's hair, a precious pearl did manifest,
His monk's staff could subdue the fighting tiger's roar.
For thirty years upon the dais he did preside,
Conferring precepts, guiding the black-robed monastic throng.
What now remains of relics from that bygone tide?
A stone statue battered by the storm, wind-strong.
