到了三月就能看到它的“花”(指性腺)。
等到冬天,产量渐渐丰盛,
它们来自遥远的海角天涯。
味道肥美,半附着在礁石上,
躯体洁净,不藏匿泥沙。
用火光来烹制它,
能挂在齿间品尝是何等有幸!
一筷子就能夹起十来只,
从此不再将鱼虾记录在食谱。
海产大多带有毒性,
唯独你的禀性如此优良。
用清水洗治昏花的病眼,
按七九之数区分等级大小。
何况如今咀嚼它的鲜肉,
料想滋补的功效会更加显著。
那刘邕的行为最为古怪,
竟辛苦地剥下自己的疮痂来吃。
The elegant abalone of Dongwu,
By the third month, its flower is already seen.
Come winter, it grows more plentiful,
Arriving from the edge of the azure sea.
Its plump flesh clings partly to the rocks,
Its body clean, harboring no sand.
To have it touched by fire's glow,
What fortune to taste it upon the teeth!
One lift of the chopsticks yields ten in a row,
Leaving fish and shrimp no longer worth noting.
Many sea creatures are of a poisonous kind,
Only your nature is truly fine.
Clear water washes ailing eyes,
Seventy or ninety, graded by size.
And now, chewing on its tender meat,
I imagine its curative effects are even greater.
Liu Yong was the strangest of all,
Toiling to pick off his scabs for a taste.
