动人正在阿堵中,妙处犹须著歌扇。
沉香亭边初睡起,鬒发珑松薄梳理。
欠伸背面故作妍,半靥墙头出桃李。
画成众目争回顾,只欠孙娘折腰步。
似见不见愁杀人,始是人生肠断处。
愁肠易断可奈何,古往今来此恨多。
君不见李夫人,不肯回身看汉君。
又不见杨太真,拥行莫恋属车尘。
自古蛾眉多蠹国,玉颜画就还伤神。

欠伸着转过身,故意做出娇媚的姿态,
半面笑靥从墙头露出,如同桃李花。
画成之后,众人争相回顾,
只缺了孙娘那折腰的步伐。
似见非见,真是愁煞人,
这才是人生中肠断的时刻。
愁肠易断,又能怎样呢?
古往今来,这样的憾事太多了。
您没看见李夫人吗,
不肯回身看一眼汉家君王。
又没看见杨太真吗,
车驾行进中,莫要留恋属车扬起的尘埃。
自古以来,美貌女子多祸害国家,
将玉颜画成,反而令人伤神。
The painter fails to capture the face of spring breeze,
How could such jade-like beauty be easily seen?
The charm lies precisely in those eyes,
Yet its wonder still needs a song-fan to enhance.
By the Pavilion of Aloeswood, just awoken from sleep,
Her raven hair, disheveled, is lightly combed.
Stretching, turning her back, she feigns a charming pose,
Half a dimpled smile peeks over the wall, like peach and plum blossoms.
Once painted, all eyes vie to look back,
Only lacking Lady Sun's bending-waist step.
Seen yet unseen—it vexes one to death,
This is truly the heart-breaking moment of life.
A sorrowful heart is easily broken, but what can be done?
From ancient times till now, such regrets are many.
Have you not seen Lady Li,
Who refused to turn back and look at the Han emperor?
And have you not seen Yang Taizhen,
Escorted in procession, do not cling to the dust of the imperial carriage.
Since ancient times, moth-eyebrowed beauties often bring ruin to the state,
A jade face painted only adds to one's anguish.
