这孤独的树根从何而来？原是远从沧海之滨移栽。
迁移使它失去了生机，砍削修剪又耗费了人力。
枝干蜷曲像蛇蚓盘结，如同沮丧的丈夫失去了刚直。
仅存的美貌支撑着孤翠，枯干的纹理渗上些许湿气。
只供作盆中玩赏之物，竟被隔绝了参天的本色。
怎能招来狂风惊雷，一夜之间将它拔高千尺。

From where did this solitary root arise? / Planted long ago by the distant sea.
Transplanted, it lost its will to thrive; / Pruned and carved, a waste of human energy.
Twisted like a snake or earthworm, knotted tight; / A dispirited man, robbed of his upright might.
A remnant of beauty props up its lonesome green; / Withered veins drink in a tiny drop, unseen.
Merely a potted plant for a table's delight, / It's barred from joining the sky's majestic height.
If only I could summon the wind and thunder's might, / To tear it up a thousand feet in a single night!
