头发斑白，壮志已然凋零；
牙齿脱落，生机所剩无几。
寒来暑往，已近八十个春秋；
咀嚼品味，岁月流逝已久。
请您看看那磨损的钟钮，
人的血气岂能长久旺盛？
我的先祖初入仕途之时，
仅有两颗门牙尚且留存。
这位老者并不冒犯他人，
却反被他人所讥讽索取。
韩退之性情太过倔强，
曾自夸有鲸鱼脍的手艺。
最终又能怎么样呢？
人生实在难以承受衰老之苦。

Gaps in my teeth, my vital force is in decay.
Through heat and cold, some eighty cycles I've passed by;
I've chewed the cud of time, and seen the years go nigh.
Look at the bell's worn rim, I ask you, sir, to see—
Can blood and vigor last in perpetuity?
When my forefather first embarked on his career,
He had but two front teeth, and yet he knew no fear.
This old man, not aggressive, not a man to fight,
Was yet by others taken as a source of spite.
Han Yu, too stubborn, in his prime did proudly boast
Of hands that sliced a whale upon some distant coast.
What will become of us, when all is said and done?
