萧萧湘阴县，寂寂黄陵祠。

xiāo xiāo xiāng yīn xiàn， jì jì huáng líng cí。

乔木荫楼殿，画壁半倾欹。

qiáo mù yīn lóu diàn， huà bì bàn qīng yī。

白话文翻译

萧瑟的湘阴县，

寂静的黄陵祠。

高大的树木荫蔽着楼殿，

壁画已半是倾颓歪斜。

雨中芦洲显得淡远，

渔网在烟霭之外归来。

舜帝再也无法见到，

只看见江鸥飞翔。

假使心中没有憾事，

经过此地也会依依不舍。

Desolate lies Xiangyin County, drear and still,

Silent stands the Huangling Temple on the hill.

Tall trees cast shade on tower and hall,

Painted walls half crumble, ready to fall.

The reed islets fade in the misty rain,

Fishing nets return beyond the smoky plain.

The sage-king Shun can no more be seen,

Only river gulls in flight are keen.

Even if I had no regrets or pain,

Passing here, I'd feel a lingering strain.
