讨债无门，只得去拜谒官府公门，
哪曾想到公门反而令人心神伤悲。
幸好县官偿还了三百索钱，
可痴儿还贪恋着那一千缗。
如今两手空空才知道错了，
从此甘心认命，不再埋怨贫穷。
并非恩泽不能广布旁及，
实在是五穷鬼苦苦跟随，无可奈何。

Having no way to demand debt, I call at the official gate,
Who would have thought the gate itself would make my spirit desolate?
The magistrate kindly repaid three hundred strings of cash,
Yet the foolish lad still clings to a thousand strings he'd amass.
Now, empty-handed, I finally know my mistake,
From now on, resigned to poverty, no complaint will I make.
It's not that grace does not spread far and wide,
But the Five Woes relentlessly by my side abide.
