他曾登上燕然山刻石铭记汉军的功勋；
如今白发苍苍，麒麟阁中可见他的仪容画像。
历事三朝，本是山西出身的将领；
身经百战，曾焚烧过匈奴单于的朝廷。
已受封列侯，归居北边的府第；
仍筹划深远计谋，击破先零部落。
拉弓击剑，是他平生的事业；
不许儿孙们去攻读任何一部经书。

Once he climbed Mount Yanran to carve the Han army's triumph;
Now white-haired, in the Qilin Hall, his portrait hangs in glory.
Through three reigns, a general from west of the mountains;
In a hundred battles, he once burned the Xiongnu's royal court.
Already enfeoffed as a marquis, he retired to his northern mansion;
Still he devised deep strategies to crush the Xianling tribes.
Bending bows and wielding swords—the deeds of his whole life;
He forbids his sons and grandsons to study a single classic.
