昨天在邻居家吃饭，食案上层层叠叠摆满了肉和鱼。
今天早晨吃自家的粥，只有一个食器盛着笋和蒲菜。
不会因为昨天的丰盛而变得肥胖，
也不会因为今天的简单而变得消瘦。
面前的食物有丰盛有寡淡，
但这腹中的感受却总是安然自适。
所以颜回那样的贤者，
即使一箪食一瓢饮，也不追求更多。

Yesterday at the neighbor's feast, platters piled high with meat and fish.
This morning at my own simple meal, a single bowl of bamboo shoots and rushes.
Not fatter for yesterday's abundance,
Nor leaner for today's spare fare.
Before me spreads a feast or famine,
Yet this belly remains content, the same.
Thus it was for the disciple Yan,
With his meager basket and gourd, he sought no more.
