归来的鸿雁形单影只，栖宿在沙洲上；
我的梦萦绕着芦花，却无法奈何忧愁。
颖谷的一杯羹汤，已没有机会再馈赠；
翳桑的一囊饭食，有时还能得到酬答。
功名是千载难逢的机遇，正待你来承受；
议论若惊世骇俗，合乎情理便应被采纳留存。
此事关系天下人的期望，至关重要；
我殷勤地为你传报消息，寄往古扬州。

A lone returning goose rests on the sandbar;
My dreams, tangled in reed flowers, cannot bear the sorrow.
The cup of broth from Ying Valley, none left to send;
The sack of rice from Yisang, sometimes repaid in kind.
Fame and merit, rare through ages, come for you to claim;
Startling discourse, if it fits, should be kept and retained.
This matter greatly concerns the hopes of all under heaven;
With earnest care, I send this word to ancient Yangzhou.
