往昔戎马喧嚣，沸腾了边塞的声音，
你曾献出良策，协助扫清战乱。
六年来厌倦宦游，隐迹于楚地的水泽，
你我一同折枝（喻同登科第），铭记于栾城。
在北门或西府，你依然位列朝班，
作为后雁与前鸿（喻先后显达），我愧对你的恩宠与荣显。
我的两鬓已斑白如星，我老了啊，
看着你重新踏上宫殿丹墀前行。

In the past, war horses stirred up border clamor,
You once offered fine strategies to help sweep it clean.
Six years of weary travel, hidden in Chu's marshes,
A branch we broke together, remembered in Luancheng.
At the North Gate, the Western Bureau, you still take your place,
A later goose, a former swan, shamed by such favor and glory.
My temples are now dotted with stars—I have grown old,
I watch you ascend once more the red-painted palace steps.
