自古以来，命运就憎恶那些显达之人；
到了今天，人们也依然感叹人才难得。
我自己已经厌倦了这炎热的时令；
但又有谁能忍受那岁末的严寒呢？
仕途的升迁与沉沦，空自过早地谋划；
无论是在朝廷还是地方，且试着从容看待。
不要因为常常处于穷困的境地，
就总是心怀对安逸生活的贪恋。

Since ancient times, fate has frowned upon the successful;
Even today, we lament the scarcity of true talent.
I myself am weary of the summer's oppressive heat;
But who among men can endure the winter's bitter cold?
Rising and falling—vain to plan for them too soon;
At home or abroad, let's observe with measured pace.
Do not, for being often trapped in hardship,
Nurse a constant longing for comfort and ease.
