起初并不害怕离别，也不热衷于频繁交往。
我周游于江浙一带直到年老，风雪中又回到了深冬时节。
您出身于世家大族，举止高雅超凡脱俗。
弹奏琴弦寄托纯真的志趣，这情怀万古以来都能开阔人的心胸。
为何要怜惜我的疏懒，纵情谈论时还宽容我的愚钝。
留恋不舍又过了二十天，想要离去时寒意正浓。
应当知道向贤者看齐，出仕与隐居的选择实在难以遇到知己。
草木都冻得快要折断，冬日山岭上只有孤松挺立。

At first I feared not parting, nor did I crave company's art,
Through Jiangsu and Zhejiang I roamed, old and tired at heart.
The snows return in deepest winter, bitter cold does start.
You, my lord, from noble lineage, with graceful steps apart,
Strumming the lute to express true spirit, ancient wisdom impart.
Through all ages, it opens the mind, a timeless, liberating chart.
Why pity my idle nature, indulging my foolish thought?
Allowing broad discourse, with tolerance you've wrought.
Lingering for twenty days more, as departure is sought,
The chill grows thick, and leaving is with heavy sadness fraught.
Know this: to emulate the worthy, in thought and action,
Meeting one's match in going forth or staying is rare interaction.
Grass and trees freeze, about to break in winter's harsh contraction,
On the ridge, only the lone pine stands with resilient traction.
