枯林中一枝独秀的山茶花，染着胭脂般红艳。
它不让群芳按次序来窥看自己。
月中的桂树殷勤地前来与它并色争辉，
江边的梅花寂寞地开放，被允许与它同时绽放。
霜飞雪舞终究难以挫败它的气节，
蝴蝶隐匿，蜜蜂逃散，各自都不知道它的坚贞。
我折下一枝姑且慰藉眼目，
儿童们拍手欢呼，误以为春天已经到来。

A lone camellia in the withered woods, dyed in rouge, stands proud and fair.
It refuses to let the common flowers peep at it in their turn.
The laurel of the moon comes eagerly to share its hue,
While the riverside plum, in solitude, is allowed to bloom at the same hour.
Neither frost-fly nor snow-dance can ever subdue its spirit;
Butterflies hide and bees flee, each unaware of its steadfastness.
I break off a twig to somewhat comfort my eyes,
While children clap their hands, mistaking it for the arrival of spring.
