田舍茅庐少有客人来往，
日常只与樵夫渔人为伍。
胸中怀着郁郁不得志的愁闷，
舌头尚在口中却难以倾吐。
忽然有佳客前来探望我，
苦苦挽留终日畅谈不休。
欣喜地在林间漫步徜徉，
纵情谈论古往今来之事。
款待之物只有乡村浊酒，
以水竹权当盛物的礼器。
临别时相约他日再来访，
相视一笑便爽快地应许。

My cottage seldom sees a visitor's trace;
I keep the company of woodmen all the days.
Depressed, I feel my heart is full of grief untold;
I cannot speak it out though my tongue is not cold.
A welcome guest comes to see me all of a sudden;
He would talk with me all day long, my heart gladdened.
We're glad to take a slow walk in the woods so green,
And talk about things present and past, heard and seen.
What I have to regale is but village wine;
Bamboos and water serve as dishes and cups fine.
When he leaves, I ask him to come again some day;
He says yes with a smile and then goes his way.
