Like natural green jade, perfectly round and grand.
Cracked open, its flesh gleams with a crystal sheen,
Chewed, it sends a chill through teeth, crisp and keen.
Its coolness drives the summer's fierce heat away,
And broadens one's capacity for wine, they say.
No such fruit grows by the Eastern Gate, it's true,
Like snowflakes heaped on a plate of ice, fresh and new.
