高耸入云的老桧树仿佛要活上千年，
它经历了多少次人间的昼夜更迭。
风雨过后，它盘曲的枝条在风中喧响，
月光下，它清朗的影子被流云割碎。
它盘结的根须不愿生长在郎官谷那样的名利场，
它挺拔的树干正应加入君子的行列。
应当相信有英灵神物在护佑着它，
屡经战乱，它才幸免于被斧斤砍伐。

How many times has it witnessed the world's dawns and dusks?
In the wind, its twisted branches clamor after the passing rain,
Under the moon, its clear shadow shatters the flowing clouds.
Its coiled roots desire not the valley of court officials,
Its towering trunk is fit to join the ranks of noble men.
Believe that a divine spirit protects this wondrous tree,
Having weathered many wars, it's spared the woodman's axe.
