I sing long of the hermit's life, carefree and bright,
Having shed official duties, light and upright.
I love the bamboo, lean by the stream to admire,
Carry books, sit on rocks, and read with deep desire.
When feet are tired, I still untie my sandals with ease,
With thinning hair, I naturally forget the cap's unease.
I wish to have but few desires, a simple creed,
To hold myself in peace, wherever I may lead.
