自古以来,上天也厌恶虚浮的名声。
孔子弦歌不辍,处境困窘却近乎圣人;
屈原风雅高洁,至死保持着独清的品性。
他们的道术藏而不用,有什幺值得遗憾?
这文化得以传承,难道不是深情的体现?
我独自坐在沧浪水边,放声长歌;
不必再说将来某年,要在此洗涤帽缨。
Unadorned, the world takes no heed of your art;
Since time began, Heaven too has scorned empty fame.
The Master, singing with his lute, poor yet sage in heart;
Qu Yuan, through odes refined, in death kept his pure name.
What regret to fold one's path and withdraw from sight?
Is it not affection to preserve this culture's light?
Alone I sit by the blue waves, chanting long and slow;
Speak not of future years to wash my hat-strings in its flow.
