而是为了叩访贤能之门。
有人腾达直上云霄，
有人沉沦埋没于草莽之间。
那些人都已经逝去了，
只留下斑斑点点的遗迹。

At an old inn, I read the verses on the wall,
How could the scholar's spirit easily be restored?
Not for the sake of the official roll,
But to knock at the gate of the wise.
Some soared high into the clouds,
While others were buried in the wild grass.
Those men are all gone now,
Only their traces remain, faint and scattered.
