灿烂的芙蓉花啊，昨日还鲜艳美丽。
憔悴忽然就成这样了，是寒霜的果实使它如此。
终南山上生有松树和柏树，
最初也未曾显现出坚贞的品格。
柔弱的野草一旦枯萎，便消失无踪，
而松柏却独立在众多树木之前，傲然挺立。
当今世道不及上古王霸之治，
但上天依然会降生圣贤之人。
你若能通达这个道理，
又何必常常忧心煎熬呢？

Brilliant, brilliant lotus flowers, yesterday still fresh and fair.
Withered so suddenly now, the frost's fruit makes them so bare.
On the southern hill are pines and cypresses, steadfast and true,
Yet at first, their firm resolve was never in plain view.
A tender blade of grass, once withered, falls without a trace,
While they stand alone before the multitude of trees with grace.
Our age falls short of kings and hegemons' noble reign,
Yet Heaven still gives birth to sages, time and again.
If you truly comprehend this principle, my friend,
Why let constant worry and distress your spirit rend?
