羊群众多，可比诸侯的封地，
它们谨慎小心，数量无穷无尽。
抵触篱笆，进退两难；
背负鞭子，易于被驱赶向东或向西。
郑伯曾牵着羊受降蒙受耻辱，
初平一声叱喝便点化羊群，成就功绩。
音律和谐时，它们应被作为祥瑞进献，
但愿能在上林苑中牧放它们。

A thousand hooves, a noble's fiefdom in worth,
Wary and cautious, their numbers know no bound.
Butting the fence, advance or retreat is hard;
Bearing the whip, east or west they're easily turned.
The Earl of Zheng led one in humbling defeat,
Chu Ping's shout transformed them, a miraculous feat.
When harmony reigns, they should be offered as auspicious sign,
I wish to herd them in the Shanglin Park, so fine.
