桑树的枝条阻碍了行路，
瓜蔓像网一样爬在稀疏的篱笆上。
牧人离去，母牛带着小牛犊，
客人到来，家犬守护着孩童。
他的生活虽然简朴粗略，
但气象自然和乐熙攘。

An old man dwells in a secluded place,
Which inspires me to write this verse.
Mulberry branches block the narrow path,
Melon vines web the sparse fence.
The herdsman leaves, the cow with her calf,
A visitor comes, the dog guards the child.
Though his life is simple and plain,
The scene itself is bright and serene.
