相信乌衣巷中从不缺乏贤才。
你早年便如膝上的中郎将享有声誉，
在湖南担任司马，岁月迁延。
离天虽近却无处容身，
本可击水三千里竟未能前行。
满腹经纶、唇枪舌剑究竟有何用？
人与琴都湮没在幽暗的九泉之下。

Truly, the noble house lacks not worthy men.
Young, you gained fame like the son upon the knee;
South of the lake, as Marshal, years passed in vain.
A foot from heaven, yet no place was found;
Striking water three thousand li, you could not advance.
What use were lips and teeth, or five cartloads of learning?
Man and lute are both lost to the silent spring.
