Where we met, sharing wine from the same cup,
The river maples were about to shed their last leaves.
We still could be companions for ten days,
And compose poems together, as we did for years.
To serve the world, I lack the strength and sinew;
My heart is startled by the pain of parting.
May you stand firm as the South Pole Star,
And deeply comfort this sorrowful traveler's grief.
