翠华仪仗簇拥着霍去病般的勇将，
他却对着青山谈论《豹韬》中的兵法。
兵马在残月下连夜行军，
弓旗在凛冽的北风中发出寒冷的声响。
捧着壶浆慰劳的父老们愁苦得泣血，
野地用餐的将军勇猛地茹毛饮血。
我自嘲一个书生，却跟随在主帅的军帐，
也腰佩刀剑，束紧了出征的战袍。

The imperial banners gather round our gallant chief,
Who speaks of tactics in the green hills, not of war.
Beneath the waning moon, the troops march on in stealth,
And bows and banners rustle in the north wind's roar.
The elders, offering wine, weep tears of blood in grief;
The general, in the wilds, eats raw meat, fierce and brief.
I laugh at myself, a scholar in the commander's tent,
Also girded with sword and clad in armor, on campaign bent.
