Withering or thriving, its form unchanged,
In secluded stillness it gains long life.
It only awaits the River of Heaven's water,
Yet still disdains the ice of the Jade Well.
Pines and bamboos have fewer concerns,
Orchids, lush and fragrant, are full of sentiment.
Alone I love the chill by the meditation window,
A guest, leaning on the table in solitude.
