侧理固尝收会稽,陶泓不独称洪农。
徂徕取煤如点漆,宣城束颖能藏锋。
焉知于今一秃翁,四宝委弃文房空。
近时稍稍复寻访,嗜好亦须随土风。
磁洞疏波凿山骨,沙陇剔薮求毛宗。
昌溪万碓𢭏白楮,涪江千炬焚椅桐。
不须更问在何记,已作僰叟从巴童。
但看所有乃如此,亦足验我良羁穷。
君不见昔年平御史,初得巨璞三硖中。
少陵酸寒真可笑,欲使起草明光宫。

怎知如今一个秃顶老翁,
文房四宝尽弃,书房空空。
近来才渐渐重新寻访,
嗜好也须随当地的风尚。
从磁洞疏浚溪流,开凿山石,
在沙陇剔除丛莽,寻求兔毫。
昌溪有万座碓臼捣制白楮纸,
涪江边千炬火焚烧椅桐制墨。
不必再问记载在何处,
我已像僰族老叟跟随巴童。
只看我所有的竟是如此,
也足以验证我的困顿飘零。
你难道没听说往年的平御史,
最初在三峡中得到巨大的璞玉。
少陵的酸寒真是可笑,
还想在明光宫起草诏书。
Our family's literary treasures rival the Cui's of old,
For generations, our learning has mastered the art of carving dragons.
Fine paper we once gathered from Kuaiji's famed abode,
And inkstones were not solely praised in Hongnong's ode.
The ink from Culai's soot is black as lacquer, deep and bright,
Xuanzhou's brush tips, sheathed, conceal their sharpness from the light.
Who would know that now, a bald old man remains,
With the Four Treasures abandoned, leaving the study's empty plains.
Lately, I've begun to seek them out once more,
Yet tastes must shift with the local customs of each shore.
From magnetic caves, we dredge the streams and quarry the mountain's bone,
Through sandy ridges, we comb the thickets for the finest hair, alone.
At Changxi, ten thousand pestles pound the white mulberry bark,
On Fujiang's banks, a thousand torches burn the parasol trees dark.
No need to ask where records of this might be found,
I've become a Bo elder, following the Ba children around.
But look at all I have, and you will see,
It's proof enough of my own poverty and misery.
Have you not heard of the Censor Ping in years gone by,
Who first obtained a giant jade from three gorges under the sky?
Du Fu's bitter hardship seems truly laughable to me,
Who wished to draft edicts in the Mingguang Palace, fancy-free.
