在近郊，竹木繁茂生长，
我亲手种满了庭院的每个角落。
其他的草木都不值一提，
但这位君子（竹）怎幺可以缺少。
风来时，它应当与我相视一笑，
雪压时，我们要互相扶持。
不要去做那封侯拜相般的树木，
生来就鄙夷那些被役使的“木奴”。

Near suburbs, bamboo thrives, a verdant scene,
I planted them myself, filling each court's green.
Others are not worth a counting or a thought,
But this noble friend cannot be left for naught.
When wind arrives, it shares a laugh with me,
When snow weighs down, we help each other, free.
Don't aspire to be a marquis' stately tree,
Born to scorn the servile wood, it's wild and glee.
