山峦向南延伸，越发显得光秃；
江水向下游流去，转而变得清澈。
鸟儿哪能容许在此长久站立；
鱼儿来不及深深潜行。
云层之外，大雁的机心已然发动；
沙洲之上，白鹭的心意开始萌生。
我坚信这是为我所奉行之道考虑，
但切记不可将一切看得太过分明。

The hills grow barer as they stretch southward;
The river runs clearer as it flows downward.
Birds cannot bear to perch here for long;
Fish cannot dive deep enough to be strong.
Wild geese stir in the clouds, their message sent;
Egrets on the sandbank show their intent.
To hold fast to my path, I must believe—
But never seek to make things too clear or naive.
