For ten years facing wall, he set his elixir's core.
Who knew that water, fire, untempered, would fiercely burn?
Thus cause and effect idly made a Luohan in turn.
Shooting an arrow skyward till his strength was spent,
It falls to earth again—what words can represent?
To force and break the void, in stubborn meditation bent,
Would he consent to burn the golden pill, thus sent?
