Truly, I once witnessed peace with my own eyes.
On Lantern Festival, the Jinglong lights were the prize.
From all four corners rose songs of peace, one and all,
Under heaven, not a sigh was heard to befall.
Long was the moon fair, the sky surely clear and bright.
Everyone reveled till dawn, throughout the fifth night.
Now, but a handful of tears, bitter and sore,
Regretting this life spent south of the river, evermore.
