Among the five-hued clouds, atop the jade peaks' throng, lies my homeland long.
For serving at Jasper Pool, I broke a wine rule, the Jade Emperor's decree banished a poet, me.
With cypress's stern grace, the hermit's mountain face, ere middle age, time leaves its trace.
By West Lake's way, I linger 'midst the light, defying frost and ice with haughty sight.
East window's gleam.
Trim wick, burn incense, a tranquil dream.
Then fill the cup with plum blooms, a toast to life's streams.
Dreamt of immortals' cheer, feasting on phoenix and qilin rare, to ten isles we'd steer, riding phoenix-chariots through the air.
Pledged to the mortal sphere, to pay all poetry's debt, then ride the wind back to the Emperor's court, set.
Not yet the time, for now, a hundred years I'll claim, amidst the orange green and tangerine's bright flame.
